When Saint Catherine Laboure, of the Miraculous Medal, finally described the “Virgin of the Globe” image, it consisted of the following:
“The Blessed Virgin lightly holds the globe in her hands, she illuminates with a bright light... Around there would be: O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us.”
In December of 1830, when St. Catherine wrote about the final apparition of Our Lady, she said that she felt that the words should appear “as a description at the foot” of Our Lady. This medal’s image honors that understanding, by placing the words at the base of the image near the feet of Our Lady.
